One Breath at a Time

Updated: May 30, 2022

"Listen. Are you breathing just a little and calling it a life? "– Mary Oliver

This quote pauses an important question: Are you living to your truest potential? Or are you playing small in your life? We all need these conscious moments where we reflect on where we are and what is next. Living life on auto pilot and doing everything out of obligation can create a sense of loneliness. You feel lonely because you are avoiding yourself.

If you are neglecting yourself by ignoring what you care about and prioritizing other people's goals, you can probably relate. If you play small regularly, in order to help others around you shine more, you understand. Recovering people pleaser around the world have found that to be true also... Myself included. I know I have personally made decisions about my life in the past solely based on how the people I loved would be affected in a misguided attempt to get their approval and their love. I was more focused on pleasing them than listening to my own inner voice. The truth is clear and simple. All we need is to be brave and have the integrity to face it.

Our biggest challenge sometimes in life is to keep our integrity and stay true to ourselves. Whenever we set out to serve and give ourselves everything we are yearning for- we are coming home to ourselves. It feels peaceful and hopeful, and it allows us to show up more in our own life and in our community.

When we tune in regularly, it gets easier to discern the truth from the outside noise. One powerful tool that often goes un-noticed is our breath. Conscious breathing is an easy way to take time to focus on ourselves, nurture our mind/body connection and align with our intentions. “Through the breath, we make sure that what's coming from us is coming from who we really are. Breathing gives us a chance to very consciously and deliberately connect to our inner intelligence, begin to trust it, and allow it to express through us.” Dan Brule.

I am so happy to share our first online course One Breath at a Time this month with everyone.

It is introducing conscious breathing and its benefits, in the hope that it will help you feel connected, at peace and inspired to live your most authentic lives. As you can see in the diagram below, there are so many known benefits to our breath: it can lower anxiety and stress, enhance our immune system, improve our confidence, increase our energy and concentration...just to mention the biggest one. The best thing is that we always have our breath available to us as long as we are alive.

What if we learned to breathe more deeply? What if it allowed us to start living a richer and more meaningful life?
